Happy Mothers Day

Doughnuts (The Family Recipe)

Family recipes are a legacy that you can enjoy as your family grows with each new generation! This recipe is a favorite of my mothers and brings so many memories of her childhood with her Mother as they spent time together as a family. My sister, Patty and her daughters & granddaughter, the awesome cooks that they are... brought back the past & selected this recipe from my mothers safe keeping. Once again memories are made spending time together as they gather around the kitchen enjoying Grandmom Rivell's doughnuts! Needless to say, they were a Hit! I would like to post the recipe and also pictures of this amazing holiday event! We hope you will also enjoy this recipe with your family! Happy Mothers day from our family to yours!

Grandmom Rivell's Famous Doughnuts

12 cups flour

2 tbsp salt

cinnamon and nutmeg to taste

Dissolve in one pint warm milk, 1 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 lb butter,1/4 lb Crisco

Add two yeast cakes dissolved in 1 cup warm water, 2 eggs

Mix liquid ingredients with dry ingredients.

Knead dough and let rise in warm place until double in size.

Punch down and roll out 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. I just guess. :)

Use doughnut cutter or glass to make doughnut cutouts. Let Rise again!

Fry in hot oil {375 oil temp} until golden brown. Cool slightly. Carefully shake in bag with powdered sugar. Yummy! They get stale very quickly so you may want to freeze. Then thaw and warm in oven again for fresh taste.
